A female police inspector from Madurai, who was previously on bail for witness intimidation in an extortion case, has been arrested once again. Arshad, a bag maker from Ilayayankudi in the Sivagangai district, visited Madurai with RS 10 lakh on July 5, 2021, to purchase required items for his business. While visiting a friend in the Pudukottai area, Inspector Vasanthi, who was working in Nagamalai Pudukottai along with her acquaintances, robbed Arshad of his belongings. When Arshad approached the police station to retrieve his belongings, Vasanthi threatened to file a false case against him. Arshad filed a complaint against 4 individuals, including Vasanthi, with the Superintendent of Police in Madurai. Vasanthi was later arrested but went absconding for two months. She was arrested while staying in a private hotel in Kotagiri, got bail in court, faced the case, and was suspended. However, there were allegations that Vasanthi threatened witnesses related to her case. The threatened person filed a complaint in the Madurai District Crime Branch, and a case was also registered against her. A special team led by Tiruvilliputhur DSP Sabrinathan was formed to arrest Vasanthi. The police surrounded her at her home in Oomachikulam this morning, and she was taken away in a van as she tried to escape. It is wrong to threaten Vasanthi, who is already on bail, and hence, a case has been registered against her.

The victim, Arshad, complained to the then Superintendent of Police, Madurai. Accordingly, the district crime branch police registered a case against 4 persons including Vasanthi. Vasanthi, who had been absconding for 2 months, was arrested in a private hotel in Kotagiri. Following this, he was suspended, got bail in the court and faced the case.

In this case, there were allegations that Vasanthi intimidated the witnesses related to her case. Also, the threatened person filed a complaint in the Madurai District Crime Branch. Accordingly, a case was also registered against him. On the advice of South Zone IG Asraga Karg, a special team headed by Tiruvilliputhur DSP Sabrinathan was formed to arrest him in the case.

Special forces went to Vasanthi’s house in Oomachikulam area of ​​Madurai this morning. The police surrounded him as he tried to go out. However, when she tried to escape from them, the female police officers picked up and dragged Vasanthi and took her away in a van. The incident created a stir.

According to the police, it is wrong to threaten Inspector Vasanthi, who has already been arrested and is on bail, to destroy the witnesses. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and he has been arrested.
