The Sofia City Administrative Court confirmed the election of Mayor Vasil Terziev. The results of the second round were attacked by Vanya Grigorova, who remained second to Terziev by less than 5,000 votes.
The decision can be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court within 7 days. Grigorova’s headquarters will wait for the reasons of the court and most likely they will do so.
She challenged the selection of Terziev on the grounds that there was a problem with the generation of the hash code for the machines – it was compromised. From there, there were also doubts about the data from machine voting. The case dragged on for months, during which time the submitted ballots and machine voting receipts were examined. In the course of them, data were presented that more votes were not reflected for Terziev than for Grigorova.
Against the mayor, there are also two reports of incompatibility in the Municipal Election Commission (MEC), submitted by the unknown “Truth and Freedom Radio and Television”, represented by Alexander Dolev. It is for the shareholding in the company “Maj.io” OOD, but Terziev’s team pulled out documents that there was no such violation.
The second alert is from a private individual about other companies. In March, the OIC sent to the British Commercial Register an inquiry about its participation in the ownership and management of three companies – “Metasim Limited”, “Spacetime Limited” and “Payhawk Limited”, as all 3 companies are registered in Great Britain.
The Sofia Administrative Court also on Friday overturned the decision of the OIC, which prematurely terminated the powers of Georgi Kuzmov as mayor of the capital’s “Oborishte” district.
At the end of the working day on Friday, however, the Metropolitan Municipality was left without a chief architect. The resignation of Zdravko Zdravkov was accepted by Terziev. I thank him for the time he dedicated to Sofia, the mayor announced. Arch. Zdravkov has been in this post since 2016. No reasons for his resignation have been announced.
An acting chief architect will be appointed on Monday.
“At the same time, we are starting the preparation for a competition. I hope that this position will challenge and inspire many professionals and visionaries, and the best future chief architect of Sofia will be chosen”, said Vasil Terziev. He assured that he would approach all professional communities for proposals to find the most suitable candidate.
