The Vatican has announced an art competition in which your paintings could be displayed inside St. Peter’s Basilica alongside works by Renaissance masters Michelangelo and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to display an original set of paintings of the Stations of the Cross in a temporary exhibition in the Basilica during Lent 2026, in addition to receiving a cash prize of 120,000 euros (approximately 131,000 US dollars).
The competition is free and open to artists from around the world. Participants can choose the style and technique, but must paint the traditional 14 Stations of the Cross.
