A festival dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Nevsky will take place from 16 to 17 September at VDNKh in the historical park “Russia – My History”.
The festival promises to be one of the largest events dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of the Grand Duke and military leader, as well as to gather a record number of students from Moscow and the Moscow region. The organizers of the festival have already talked about what awaits visitors: for two whole days, the event site will turn into a medieval settlement with various kinds of activities. Festival guests can try themselves in the role of craftsmen, cheer for knights in staged duels and personally practice martial arts, and most importantly, see episodes from the life of Prince Alexander Nevsky and his heroic path.
According to the organizers, a week before the start of the festival, more than 5,000 students in the Moscow region expressed their desire to attend the event by signing up for an author’s excursion of the Alexander Nevsky comic exhibition, which will also be available for independent visits on September 16-17, absolutely free of charge to anyone.
In addition to the excursion, everyone will be able to take part in thematic master classes, such as: typing, painting ceramics, making dolls and many other crafts popular in the Middle Ages.
“The festival is associated with a comic book exhibition that opened at the Russia – My History Education Centers. Their multimedia platform brings characters to life and helps viewers to better visualize the distant events of the 13th century. Such an accurate and at the same time progressive presentation of the material allows to captivate and interest the audience, regardless of age, ”says Ivan Yesin, Director of the Humanitarian Projects Foundation.
Also within the framework of the festival, the project “Russia-My History” (with the support of the Patriarchal Council for Culture) prepared and launched a bright special project in the Moscow metro – 10,000 Troika cards with a unique design, dedicated to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky …
The festival itself will become one of the flagship events of a large-scale all-Russian project dedicated to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Nevsky.
