Celebration in the center of the capital will be limited, but about 20 New Year’s venues will be opened in other districts of Moscow

This year, Moscow will partially restrict New Year’s celebrations, Vedomosti reports, citing a source close to the mayor’s office and a federal official.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, there are no plans to celebrate in the city center, but about 20 New Year’s venues will appear in other districts of Moscow. In addition to the already operating skating rink, two more skating rinks will open on Red Square – in Gorky Park and at VDNKh. According to the interlocutors, it is assumed that Muscovites will celebrate the holiday in their districts and less often come to the city center.

The authorities have not yet planned to introduce QR codes in restaurants for the New Year, sources of the publication said: “There is an opinion that Muscovites should be given a chance to celebrate, to breathe out a little.” At the same time, the interlocutors indicated that plans may change depending on the incidence rate, the interlocutor notes.

The Moscow Department of Culture did not respond to the publication’s request.
