Vegetable prices peak in the country ..! Shortage in the next few weeks, traders say ..

Consumers and traders are facing severe inconvenience as the prices of upcountry and lowland vegetables have skyrocketed.

In the Nuwara Eliya weekly market, upland and lowland vegetables sell for 400 rupees a kilo, while tomatoes sell for more than 600 rupees a kilo.

Meanwhile, a moisturizer sells for 200 rupees. Traders say the increase in the price of vegetables in the Nuwara Eliya weekly market has hampered business activities.

With the shortage of vegetables in the last few weeks, the prices of vegetables may go up further and consumers themselves will be in a lot of trouble. Market traders said.
