Amílcar Montejo, traffic spokesman for the Municipality of Guatemala, announced that the vehicle closures will begin at 1:30 p.m., an earlier time compared to the closures applied during the game last Thursday.
Streets that will be closed to vehicular traffic include:
- 7th Avenue Doroteo Guamuch Streetin front of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute —Inguat—, where passage towards 10th Avenue will not be permitted.
- 10th Avenue under the Olympic Bridgeon 27th Street in Zone 5. Traffic coming from Avenida Reforma or the Liceo Guatemala will be diverted to the La Palmita neighborhood, looking for 27th Street in Zone 5.
- 10th Avenue, near the Penitentiary Bridgeon 21st Street in Zone 1, where traffic coming from the north will be diverted towards 12th Avenue or towards the La Limonada neighborhood.
In addition, control operations will be maintained throughout the day in the area to regulate street vendors and prevent the sale of liquor in the vicinity of the stadium, in order to maintain public order.
Alternative routes
If you usually travel through the area where the closures will take place, you can use the following: alternate routes:
- Assumption Boulevard
- Bolivar Avenue
- Civic Center
- Diagonal 6, Zona 10
- Vehicle section between 1st and 2nd Street, Zones 9 and 10
These routes are intended to reduce the impact of traffic in areas close to the stadium and benefit users who travel through Zone 4 and Zone 15, areas that could be affected by the concentration of fans.
