According to the report from the National Association of Sustainable Mobility (Andemos), vehicle sales in March recorded a figure of 13,361 units, marking a drop of 22.6% compared to the same month last year, when 17,270 vehicles were sold. . This decline adds to the negative trend that has continued over the last three months.

So far this year, vehicle sales have accumulated a drop of 13.6%, with a total of 40,567 units sold. This month of March is positioned as the third month with the lowest sales figures in recent years, following January 2024 and July 2023.

Sports utility vehicles (SUV) continue to be the best sellers, with 7,930 units, although they also show a drop of 14.6% compared to the previous year. Cars and trucks under 10 tons also saw significant sales declines, with drops of 23.5% and 23.9%, respectively.

However, the hybrid and electric vehicle segment shows remarkable growth, with an increase of 37% compared to March 2023. In total, 3,397 units were sold in this month, and the sale of electric and hybrid vehicles has seen a growth of 47% so far this year.

Toyota remains the leading brand in sales, with 2,154 units sold in March and a total of 6,541 units for the year. Renault occupies second place, with 1,656 units sold in March and 5,087 in total, with models such as the Corolla Cross and the Duster standing out.

As for the cities, Bogotá, Funza and Medellín were the ones that recorded the highest vehicle sales in March, although all experienced a decrease compared to the previous year. On the other hand, some cities such as Envigado, Chía, Pereira, Mosquera and Girón showed growth in their sales.

Finally, motorcycle sales also showed a decrease in March, with a total of 58,990 units sold, marking a drop of 10.7% compared to the same month last year. So far this year, there has been a slight decrease of 0.4% in motorcycle sales compared to the previous year.
