Vehicle retail sales in China increased 5.0% in the year and 5.0% in the month, to 2.02 million vehicles in September, the Chinese Automobile Association reported this Wednesday, 11th. The document cited higher demand ahead of the October holidays and more sales promotions as automakers try to meet quarterly sales targets.
Exports in September increased by 50% compared to the previous year, bringing year-to-date growth to 68%. Retail sales of new energy cars, which include electrics and plug-in hybrids, grew 10.7% year-on-year in September.
The association’s data shows that Tesla (NASDAQ:) delivered 74,073 cars manufactured at its factory in Shanghai in September.
