Abu Dhabi: The UAE court sentenced an Asian man to death in the incident of burning the vehicles in the workshop. The court sentenced him to one year in prison and a fine of Dh12,500. The sentence was handed down by the Dubai Criminal Court.

A 34-year-old man, who was working in a workshop, set fire to nine vehicles. The shop owner filed a complaint that there was damage of 30,000 dirhams in the incident. According to the complaint, the fire spread to the neighboring shops and caused damages of Dh12,200.

According to the complaint, the accused came to the workshop and threatened to stab the shop owner with a knife. The workshop had not completed the procedures for residence visa and work permit visa of the accused worker. It is indicated that the subsequent protest led the accused to set fire to the workshop. The accused had confessed to the crime in the court.
