A 6-storey parking facility at Chennai Meenambakkam Airport became functional from last 4th. Here vehicles are given tokens to count how long they stay inside. Again the vehicles are being charged based on how long they have been inside when leaving.
The first 10 minutes are free for vehicles and above 10 minutes a charge of Rs.75 is charged for vehicles inside. As it is rainy season today, many vehicles arrived as passengers had arrived early so as not to miss the flights.
As the work at the toll booth was delayed, the vehicles lined up for about one and a half kilometers from the toll booth on the GST road to the domestic departure terminal. Passengers have demanded that the vehicles be lined up as the toll collection work is going very slowly and additional personnel should be appointed to speed up the work.
