Vektor assessed the possibility of ending the COVID-10 pandemic in 2022

If the current rate of vaccination against coronavirus is maintained in the world, the pandemic will not end in 2022. This opinion was expressed by the head of the branch of the State Research Center of VB “Vector” of Rospotrebnadzor in Yekaterinburg, Alexander Semyonov, noting that it is extremely cautious to talk about the end of the pandemic.

“While maintaining a very low rate of vaccination around the world, we will fight the pandemic as early as 2022, and only then we have a chance to end it,” RIA Novosti Semenova quotes. He stressed that if this process is accelerated, the pandemic will end much faster.

According to him, the experience of past years, for example, the Hong Kong flu, shows that it takes two to three years to complete the pandemic process, and this depends primarily on the rate of herd immunity formation.

Let’s remind, now for mass vaccination in Russia four drugs are used – “Sputnik V”, “Sputnik Light”, “EpiVacCorona” and “KoviVak”. The number of reported adverse reactions following coronavirus vaccination is low. This was previously stated by the Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Sergei Glagolev. He also added that immunological commissions have been created in all regions, which are designed to investigate serious complications from vaccines for the prevention of coronavirus infection.
