A Chennai High Court lawyer who had come to climb the Velliangiri hill in Coimbatore district has fainted and died.

Chennai Villivakkam Ilancheliyan (55) has been working as a lawyer in the Chennai High Court. He is married and has two children. It is said that he came to Coimbatore from Chennai with his friend Ramamurthy two days ago, climbed the hill at night to visit Lord Velliangiri in Coimbatore on Tuesday night, left to see Lord Swayambhulinga on the 7th hill and started descending again at 9 am. When he reached the 6th hill then, the young man told his friend that he was not feeling well and slowly came down the hill. Later, when he came near the 5th mountain in the evening, he seems to have fainted. A doctor who came there for trekking said he had died when he was examined.

Those present informed the Alandurai Police and the Forest Department about this. Following this, the body of the youth was brought to the foothills and sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Alandurai police have registered a case and are investigating the death of the lawyer.
