The registered votes in Vellore Corporation are counted in 18 rounds. Election results will be known by 3 p.m. Said Collector Kumaravelpandian.

Consultative meeting

A consultative meeting on the counting of votes in the urban local body elections was held at the Vellore Collectorate yesterday through video conferencing. Following this, Vellore District Election Officer and Collector Kumaravelpandian gave an interview to reporters. Then he said: –

The counting of votes in the urban local body elections in Vellore district starts tomorrow (i.e. today) at 8 am. The postal votes will be counted first. The counting of votes will then take place in the electronic voting machine. The results of each ward will be released only after the postal and machine votes have been fully counted. Postage stamps will be counted separately in the presence of the chief agents. Steps have been taken to conduct a count so that no complaints are received.

Will know within 3 hours

The registered votes in Vellore Corporation are to be counted in 18 rounds. 30 tables have been prepared for this. The results will be announced after the completion of each ward vote count. A maximum of 13 polling stations were used in a ward. Thus by 3pm tomorrow The results of the corporation election will be fully known

Municipalities have the lowest number of wards. There the votes are counted in 5 to 8 rounds. In municipalities, the results will be fully released within 2 hours of the start of the counting of votes. A total of 140 people are to be involved in the counting of votes for the Vellore Corporation. In addition, 200 government employees will be involved in other tasks.

1,015 police security

Only candidates and their agents contesting in that ward will be allowed inside during each ward count. They will be expelled from the ward once the counting of votes is over and the results are announced. Candidates and agents of the next counting wards will then be admitted. Across the district, 1,015 police are on security duty inside, outside and at key locations of the counting center.

Members of the Legislature and Parliament are not allowed inside the counting center. Only ward candidates and agents will be allowed. The use of cell phones inside the counting center has been banned. One case has been registered in the district in connection with the election and 28 cases have been registered in connection with election irregularities. Fireworks are banned in public places in celebration of election victory. If they behave in a way that disturbs the public, they will be prosecuted and action will be taken.
