(ANSA) – VENICE, 01 OCT – The Veneto Region, starting from 1 January 2025, will increase the minimum age for access to free mammography screening from 50 to 45 years. The president of Veneto, Luca Zaia, announced it this morning, on the first day of Pink October.
Underlining the importance of prevention, the governor recalled that in 2023 “274 thousand women underwent screening, which allowed 1,810 tumors to be detected. In Veneto – he added – we have one of the highest participations in Italy for mammography checks , equal to 76.9%”.

It all started with a dialogue with professionals, to ensure that there was no longer just a generalist surgery for breast cancer, but that a specific procedure and dedicated teams were established that had an expertise of at least 150 operations per year” Thanks to this initiative, “over 90% of breast cancers reported during screening have a positive treatment outcome.
