Chile-Venezuela Diplomatic Tensions Escalate

The ⁣Chilean diplomatic delegation in Venezuela is led by Ambassador Jaime Gazmuri,⁣ who will be forced to leave the⁤ country following an announcement ⁤by Caracas.

The Venezuelan regime demanded the departure of all Chilean diplomatic representatives in the country, after La Moneda did​ not recognize‌ the victory of Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections held this Sunday.

Venezuelan Foreign⁣ Minister Yvan Gil made the ​announcement, stating that Caracas will also withdraw‍ its diplomatic personnel ⁢from Chile and six other countries, including Peru, Argentina,‌ and Uruguay.

In a⁣ public statement, Gil expressed strong rejection of “interventionist actions and ‍statements”⁤ by​ certain governments, accusing them⁢ of promoting “ideological fascism.”

The foreign⁤ minister also⁣ claimed that these governments are‍ attempting to⁣ undermine the failed Lima ⁤Group by ignoring the‍ election results of ​the ‌recent presidential election.

“In the face of this disastrous precedent that threatens ⁤our national sovereignty,” the ‌Caracas​ representative⁤ stated, “we decide to withdraw all diplomatic personnel from missions in ​Argentina, ‌Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.”

Caracas further emphasized its opposition to “interventionist and​ harassing statements” that attempt to disregard the‌ will ⁤of the Venezuelan people.
