NASA and SpaceX will launch a mission from Florida (USA) with the PACE satellite that will study the oceans and the atmosphere.

Although it was scheduled for this Wednesday, it was postponed due to strong winds that prevented pre-takeoff tests.

The PACE team will include a Venezuelan scientist, biologist Laura Lorenzoni, Graduated from Simon Bolivar University (USB) in Caracas, Venezuela.

The capital city is also part of the Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry (OBB) Program in NASA’s Scientific Mission Directorate.

“What attracts me to space is the unknown that you can discover. And we certainly know more about our Moon, and we are on our way to knowing more about Mars, than we know about our ocean,” said the Venezuelan biologist in an interview with NASA in Spanish.

He also expressed pride in his roots, saying: “I was born and raised in Venezuela.”

The objective of this mission will be to study plankton, aerosols, clouds and marine ecosystems on planet Earth from space.

SpaceX said Wednesday that there is a possibility that the launch will take place on Friday.

The satellite sits in the fairing of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on a pad at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in central Florida.

“The vehicle and payload remain in good condition and the teams will continue to monitor weather conditions,” SpaceX said on its X account.

Once in space, this revolutionary satellite will be located 676.5 kilometers, That is, even further away from where the International Space Station orbits.
