Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado confirmed this Saturday her support for Edmundo González Urrutia, chosen by the majority anti-Chavista coalition, the United Democratic Platform (PUD), as its candidate for the presidential elections on July 28.

González Urrutia was initially registered by the PUD, provisionally, due to obstruction on the part of the National Electoral Council (CNE), to nominate Corina Yorris, who was nominated by the coalition as María Corina Machado – winner of the primaries. On Friday, the anti-Chavista coalition unanimously declared González Urrutia as its candidate for the presidential election.
