New Delhi: Venkatesh Iyer performed brilliantly on Wednesday in the ODI Cup being held in England. Venkatesh, playing for Lancashire, led his team to victory by taking two wickets in two consecutive balls in the 49th over against Worcestershire in a thrilling match. Lancashire had scored 237 runs while batting first. Performing first with the bat, Venkatesh played an innings of 25 runs in 42 balls, which included two fours, but Venkatesh’s best performance came from bowling.

Venkatesh came to bowl as the seventh bowling option. Captain Jake Libby looked to be taking his team to the threshold of victory by scoring 83 runs in 104 balls. However, Venkatesh did not get this wicket. Worcestershire needed 15 runs in the last two overs and they had only two wickets left. Venkatesh came to bowl the 49th over. One four came as leg bye and the other as bye on the first two balls and from here Lancashire’s problems started increasing.
