Mexico’s U-19 Rugby Team Gears Up for RAN 2025 Tournament in Querétaro
Mexico’s national Under-19 rugby team is set to kick off its campaign in the North Américas North (RAN) 2025 tournament this week, facing off against Bermuda on Wednesday in Querétaro. The tournament, running from July 9 to 12, will showcase some of the region’s rising rugby stars.
The Mexican squad faces a challenging schedule, with matches against Jamaica on Wednesday and then the United States and Cayman Islands on Thursday. This rigorous schedule will test the team’s endurance and strategic depth early in the competition.
Representing the state of Veracruz on the national team are Sebastián Segura Campos and Isaac Araujo Mejía, both products of the Titans Rugby Club. The club, based in Veracruz City, is under the direction of coach Carlos Macossay, who has been instrumental in developing these young athletes.
The tournament schedule includes a rest day on Friday, allowing teams to recover and prepare for the weekend’s final matches. Six teams are participating in the regional contest, including Trinidad and Tobago. Mexico will only face Trinidad and Tobago if both teams advance to the final stage of the tournament.
The RAN tournament serves as a crucial development opportunity for young players across North America and the Caribbean, providing a platform to showcase their talent and compete at a high level. The outcome of these matches will undoubtedly shape the future of rugby in the region.
