Ukrainian singer Verka Serduchka came to the music festival “Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala 2024”, which is organized by Laima Vaikule. During her stay on stage, Verka Serduchka (real name – Andrey Danilko) thanked Russian singer Alla Pugacheva for her anti-war position, bowed to her and sang a fragment of a song in Latvian.

This was reported on social networks.

In 2024, Laima Vaikule decided to revive the music festival in Jurmala, which until 2022 was the largest music event in Europe. The festival is called “Laima Vaikule and Her Friends”. The celebrity from Latvia invited Ukrainian performers to the festival. In particular, Nastya Kamenskikh, Max Barskikh, ALEKSEEV and others performed their hits. Verka Serduchka also arrived in Jurmala.

The legendary Ukrainian singer Verka Serduchka performed on stage together with her “mother” Inna Bilokon and a show ballet in T-shirts with anti-war slogans and scarves in the style of the Ukrainian flag. The band performed a number of their English-language and Ukrainian-language hits together with the audience. In particular, “Swedish Lullaby”, “Є пропозиция”, “Russia Goodbay!”

During the performance, the Ukrainian flag was brought onto the stage, and Verka Serduchka’s songs included the words that Ukraine would win. In addition, she interrupted the performance and spoke about the realities of life in her country in her characteristic humorous manner. Thus, Serduchka said that she “walks everywhere with a flashlight.”

Bow to Alla Pugacheva

In the midst of her performance, Verka Serduchka turned her attention to Alla Pugacheva, who also arrived at the festival in Jurmala from Israel, where she has lived for two years. Pugacheva applauded the Ukrainian star, and Serduchka repeatedly addressed her, gave her flowers and wished her health.

Already at the end of the performance, Verka Serduchka bowed towards Alla Pugacheva, then took the legendary star off her head, symbolizing it as “falling” and made a wish for “the end of the war”. After that, she sang first in Latvian and then in Russian together with the show ballet.

It should be noted that there were many scandals surrounding the festival. In particular, citizens of the Russian Federation and those with dual citizenship after emigrating from there appeared on stage together with Ukrainian artists. It is interesting that Olya Polyakova and Nadya Dorofeeva were also supposed to be at the festival, but they refused to participate.

Verka Serduchka’s performance caused a storm of criticism on social networks, both from the Ukrainian and Russian sides.

Let us recall that Alla Pugacheva responded to Russia’s attack on the Okhmatdet hospital by stating that “there is a limit to everything.”
