The police were called to Verkö in Karlskrona at half past two in the morning to apprehend three men who were attempting to steal a car. A woman in the area reported seeing one man standing next to the vehicle, while another man stood at a distance holding an object. According to Interior Commander Magnus Hansson, newer cars come equipped with an active key system that requires an iPad signal to operate the vehicle. The police closed off the island in their search for the suspects, but they were unable to apprehend them. Despite seeing footprints in the snow leading away from the scene, the unknown suspects remain at large and are currently being sought for attempted grand theft.

At half past two in the morning, the police were called to Verkö in Karlskrona to arrest three men who tried to steal a car. The woman in the house saw a man standing by the car and another man standing some distance away with something in his hands.

– Slightly newer, nicer cars have an active key system where you pick up the signal with an iPad to successfully drive away with the car, explains interior commander Magnus Hansson on Monday morning.

Closed the island

In the hunt for the three men, the police closed off the island to be able to check who made it across the bridge. But the unknown men are still at large suspected of attempted grand theft.

– We could see tracks from the house in the snow, but unfortunately we have not managed to capture them, says Hansson.
