Yusuf Khan was the son of an educated family, his father Khan Nawaz Khan was a prominent barrister of Ferozpur district before partition, Yusuf Khan, who was born in Ferozpur in 1931, after the establishment of Pakistan, migrated with his family and settled in Kasur, then came to Lahore and Settled in Krishnanagar.
After coming to Lahore, Yusuf Khan matriculated from Islamia High School, the well-known writer Riaz Shahid was also studying in the same school.
Yusuf Khan also worked in Urdu dramas in the beginning, Sultan Rahi also worked in Urdu dramas, but both got their rise from Punjabi films. In which he was the hero opposite Sabiha Khanum, Yusuf Khan also showed his artistic skills as a hero and side hero in a few other films in the early period, Riyaz Shahid cast him in an important role in his film “Bharusa”. .
In 1973, Iqbal Kashmiri cast her in the title role in the Punjabi film Zadi, and this role proved to be an unforgettable role in her career. In this film, Nabila played the role of her mother. He worked opposite Neelu, this film celebrated Diamond Jubilee in Karachi city, director Jaafar Bukhari’s film “Jab Do” also starred Yusuf Khan.
Along with Punjabi, Yusuf Khan also acted in many Urdu films including Mehboob, Khamush Raho, Al Hilal, Dil Bitab, Zarqa, Garnatha, Ek Thi Dalki, Takrao, Accident, Mujaram, Hasrat, Bharusa, Decik and Naya Dur. are included.
Yousuf Khan’s Punjabi films Paharan, Malangi, Yarana, Bauji, Zadi, Warrant, Hathkadi, Jagni, Sharif Badshim, Kismat, Hyder Khan and Badha Gujjar are on the top. Acting proved that a good artist can make his mark through his work at any age.
Apart from acting, he also set up a production company in the name of his son Tipu as a producer under which he made films like Sohni Mahinwal and Bat Shakan.
Yusuf Khan was the most powerful voice against the exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan, he was also the head of the actors’ organization “MAP”, in the last days of his life, he started a movement against the exhibition of Indian films with great vigor. Yusuf Khan was admitted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore due to a heart attack where he passed away on September 19, 2009. His funeral prayers were performed in Lahore but he was cremated in the Kasur cemetery next to his mother.
