Baltimore-based video game publisher, Versus Evil, has announced that it will be shutting down after 10 years of operation. The subsidiary of tinyBuild will be closing its doors, leaving behind a legacy of independent game releases.

In a tweet, the company expressed its sadness at the decision to shut down, stating, “After 10 wonderful years, Versus Evil is shutting its doors. We’ve loved bringing you the best indie games we could find and sharing so many happy memories with you all, our amazing community! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for everything!”

According to Versus Evil head of production Lance James, the decision to shut down was not made by the company itself, indicating that it may have been a directive from its parent company, tinyBuild.

Despite the closure, Versus Evil still has multiple upcoming titles in the works, including Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients and Lil’ Guardsman. It remains unclear whether these games will be picked up by tinyBuild or if Versus Evil will need to seek out a new publishing partner.

The announcement of Versus Evil’s closure marks the end of an era for the indie gaming community, as the publisher has been known for its support of independent developers. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the upcoming titles and the team behind Versus Evil.
