The term “demure” has gone viral on Tiktok, so much so that it has launched a real trend. There is a lot of content shared on the platform and it seems that being very demure is the fashion of the moment. But what is the meaning of the term and how did the trend come about? Here is the answer!
Some time ago we explained to you the meaning of the word “brat” which has a hidden meaning and which has defined a real lifestyle. If the brat summer has intrigued you in these months and has become your motto, the demure style will surely intrigue you. The English term translated into Italian literally means “modest”, “pudic” and is a word that is not used much in English. The literal meaning is therefore slightly different from the meaning that has been attributed to the term on social media which can be used to indicate a person respectful, refined, composedwho knows his place.
The creator who started the trend was joolieannie on her Tiktok account. In the video that went viral – and made more than thirty five million of views – the creator explains how to be demure in the workplace. For example, light makeup and respectful behavior make a person demure, so without being too visible in the workplace. In fact, in the first video published, the creator wanted to make fun of the behavior of some girls who do not want to draw too much attention to themselves and have a very simple and no-frills style.
Along with the expression very demure, the adjectives “very mindful, very cutesy, very respectful” which indicate being aware, being cute, therefore cute, respectful. The trend is a bit away from being a brat and the demure lifestyle is very close to the aesthetic of the clean girl, the girl with soap and water, who tries not to be too flashy.
