“very disrupted” traffic in transport on Thursday

by time news

The RATP has communicated its forecasts for the ninth day of mobilization against the pension reform, this Thursday, March 23. The traffic will be “very disturbed” on almost all lines of the Paris metro. One out of two RERs will run on lines A and B.

The FO-RATP union, the first among metro drivers, had called for Thursday “a dark day” in transport after the use of 49.3 by the government last Thursday to have the pension reform adopted without a vote in the National Assembly.

Only the automated lines (1 and 14) will operate normally. On the other lines, the trains will run at variable times during the day, at the rate of one train in two or three. Some stations will be closed.

Rail traffic “highly disrupted”

Lines 7, 7 bis and 9 will operate at the usual times, but with every other train. Line 4 will also operate at the usual times, with three out of four trains in the morning, two out of three in the afternoon and will operate normally in the evening. All other lines will close from 7.30pm or 8pm and on many trains will only run during peak hours. Line 10 will only be open in the morning, between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

On the bus side, 80% will be in circulation and 90% of trams, on average. The RATP invites “all travelers who have the opportunity to favor teleworking or to postpone their trips on the network” for Thursday.

Regarding rail traffic, the SNCF, which will not communicate its forecasts until Wednesday at 5 p.m., has already warned that traffic will be “very disturbed” THURSDAY. “SNCF Voyageurs renews its recommendation to travelers who can cancel or postpone their planned trips”, warned a spokesperson. The unions have called for a renewable strike since March 7, until the withdrawal of the text of the pension reform, adopted Monday in Parliament after recourse to article 49.3 of the Constitution.
