Vezhdi Rashidov also won at the third instance the defamation case against Velislav Minekov. The definition is published on the website of the Supreme Court. Thus, the court finally confirmed that Minekov’s statements, made in 16 publications, are disgraceful to the good name and personal dignity of Vezhdi Rashidov. Minekov was sentenced to pay BGN 19,200 in the case, as well as interest in the amount of BGN 12,438.
After learning about the final decision of the court, Vezhdi Rashidov stated: “I waited for the justice of the Bulgarian court. I am happy that the team of the wonderful lawyer Menko Menkov, composed of young and talented Bulgarian lawyers, has proven its professionalism. This gives me faith in the future of the Bulgarian judicial system, which for me is the backbone of a society. And as for the convicted slanderer – for reasons of hygiene, I will not comment on him.”
Velislav Minekov was convicted at first instance in April 2022 for insulting and slandering Rashidov. The Sofia City Court ruled that these statements by Minekov, made in 16 publications, were disgraceful to the good name and personal dignity of Vezhdi Rashidov. Therefore, Minekov had to pay BGN 19,200.
