Germany or Türkiye? After reaching the DFB Cup quarter-finals, Stuttgart striker Undav announced that he had made a decision.

VfB striker Deniz Undav has confirmed a conversation with national coach Julian Nagelsmann and decided to join the German national soccer team. He told Nagelsmann that he would “definitely want to take the chance to play for Germany – if I get the chance,” said the 27-year-old after the 2-0 (0-0) win in the DFB Cup round of 16 VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund on Sky. Undav also has the option to play for Turkey.
The goalscorer has attracted attention in recent weeks with good performances for the Swabians in the Bundesliga and has already been considered a candidate for the home European Championship next summer. Nagelsmann watched VfB’s entry into the DFB Cup quarter-finals from the stands in the Stuttgart stadium.
Undav said he was surprised and “overly happy” by the call from the national coach. “I couldn’t believe it,” said the striker: “In the end it was a good conversation and let’s see what happens.” He then spoke to his wife, his family and his advisor.
