The University of Granada celebrates the Induction Days for International Students from September 6 to 14, 2023. Thanks to the different international mobility programs in which the UGR actively participates, more than 1,800 international mobility students will join the classrooms of the UGR at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year to carry out stays for the entire course or for a semester in duration.

The program of the conferences, organized at the beginning of each semester by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Internationalization of the University of Granadais designed to welcome new international students, help them adapt to university life in Granada during the course of their studies, as well as providing them with information about the most relevant aspects of their stay, both at the university and in the city.

In addition to the face-to-face sessions, the website created specifically to explain issues of interest to international students is kept updated: https://induction.ugr.es/.

On this page, students can find in a bilingual version (Spanish and English), information in multimedia format on topics of interest related to accommodation, university canteens, sports, culture, volunteering, academic information, course offerings from the Modern Languages ​​Center, administrative or health procedures, among others.

The conference began on Wednesday, September 6, at 9:30 a.m. in the Paraninfo of the Health Technology Park (PTS) with the general information session led by staff from the International Relations Office and preceded by the welcome. by Simón Suarez, director of International Mobility. Next, from 11:30 to 12:00, a small concert was held by the choir of the Faculty of Sciences and, immediately afterwards, a new session took place, the same as the first, but with students from other faculties.

Furthermore, the different Faculties and Schools of the UGR They organize information sessions, with specific talks designed to convey academic issues to international students, along with other procedures that students must complete when joining the university. UGR.

As a complementary activity, aimed at facilitating the integration of students, the Modern Languages ​​Center has organized a series of linguistic exchanges that took place on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7, at the Placeta del Hospicio headquarters of the CLM.

Another important instrument for the integration of international students in the UGR It is the Mentor Program. This initiative consists of connecting students from the University of Granada with international students, so that each mentor can help and accompany a small group of colleagues from other countries, especially at the beginning of their stay, so that they can easily integrate into the city and also have a first friend when they arrive. Grenade.

Also the Erasmus student association ESN (Erasmus Student Network) was present during the welcome sessions and organizes a series of recreational activities throughout the month of September to help the integration of international students and help them enjoy an excellent experience and contact during these days.

The reception, reception and welcome to international students who choose the University of Granada as a destination for their studies, under the umbrella of different programs or modalities of international mobility (Erasmus+ program, the University’s Own Program UGRFree Mobility students, or students who come under the ARQUS alliance), is one of the activities contemplated in the Internationalization Strategy of the UGRwhich has established itself for years as one of the leading European higher education institutions in receiving and sending students within the framework of the Erasmus Programme, a position it has maintained for more than a decade with around 2,000 Erasmus students received and sent each year, respectively.
