Hands clinging to a fishing rod, Eddy stares at a tiny black dot in the sky. At the end of the nylon thread, several tens of meters high, no big fish but a kite in the shape of a cast net. “He has a touch, he’s in the middle of a flurry there”, gently mocks his friend Vincent. “The Teknival is a moment that we all spend together, we take the time, we are good, and we can even do a kite competition, on that, we are strong”, laughs Eddy watching his distant paper bird.

At least 30,000 people gathered in Indre this weekend to dance in the aisles of this legendary French party event. As Théo, who while cooking merguez sausages on a small fire, explains to us that the party allows us to “get out of all these social codes, these costumes to be held in society”. Quentin came, like all the other participants, to party but also “to claim the right to party” after the years of festive scarcity due to the Covid.

Lying on the roof of a car, a festival-goer is resting, “Being a party, that’s exactly my job,” he sums up, laughing. Find our video on the Teknival at the top of the article.
