EU summit with special visitors
STORY: Special times call for special peaks. This also applies to the EU summit beginning in Brussels on Thursday. Because among others, US President Joe Biden will be there and of course everything revolves around one topic. And that’s the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the responses to it: “The whole idea of Europe as a unit, not just NATO and G7, makes the difference. It’s the most important thing we can do to stop this guy from who we believe has already committed war crimes. Thank you for your time.” Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also attended. He met with EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen on Thursday and later with EU Council President Charles Michel. Kishida had already expressed his solidarity with Europe in the run-up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Japan then decided to share the surplus of its LNG supplies with Europe, and Kishida and Von der Leyen pledged to work together to ensure energy security. Thursday in Brussels was marked by a summit marathon. Because in addition to the EU summit, the NATO and G7 summits also took place. The determining topic at all meetings was the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
