A dozen environmental activists managed to break into the auto group’s big annual event with the aim of shouting their anger. “The super-rich behind the Volkswagen Group are making climate-damaging decisions that the rest of the population will have to bear,” the activist alliance Last Generation Uprising said in a statement.
The activists had gathered early in the morning already to block the road and protest against the controversial factory of the automaker in the Xinjiang region in northwest China. The demonstrators were quickly escorted by security agents after interrupting the speech of the group’s boss, who has not yet commented on this hostile act.
