Second edition, new formula and a lot of expectations. For this GP Explorer 2, a Formula 4 race organized by Squeezie and broadcast live on Twitch, it was above all a question of not taking the same ones and starting again. Among the 24 drivers on track at Le Mans this Saturday, half had never driven a Formula 4. A decision taken to mark a change with the first edition of 2022, and which left some fans perplexed. Wasn’t the difference in level between new and old pilots likely to be too great?

But the visibly intense training followed by all the pilots made it possible to put on a great show in the end. Among the most notable performances, that of the duo Anaonair and Maxime Biaggi, from the team sponsored by Mouv’. They placed 5th and 6th respectively on the starting line after qualifying. Not bad for a first. Unfortunately, an accident during the race between Maxime Biaggi and Manon Lanza, from the Racers by Alpine team, quickly aborted their dream of performance. Damage.

The race, followed by 1.3 million spectators on Twitch – an absolute record on the platform in France – and by 60,000 people in the stands, was finally led (unsurprisingly) by the same drivers as last year: Depielo ( 1st), Sylvain de Vilebrequin (2nd) and Étienne Mustache (3rd). The three content creators, passionate about motorsport and more experienced than their competitors, dominated the race from start to finish. Watch our behind-the-scenes report from the race at the top of the article.
