“Plato, go serve table number 3,” commands the waiter. Suddenly the little robot is moving slowly but surely towards its objective. Capable of carrying a maximum of 30 kg on its trays, the latest addition to French manufacturer Aldebaran was presented last week at the EquipHotel Salon, Porte de Versailles in Paris. Plato can move up to 2.6 km/h on flat ground. This robot is supposed to accompany the servers in their daily tasks, “to allow them to focus on customer advice and table service”, explains Xavier Lacherade, the general manager of Aldebaran.

“After two and a half years of development, Plato was born and certified according to industrial standards. Unlike our Chinese or Korean competitors, Plato meets data security standards, which is a major advantage for users,” explains Nicolas Delatre, product manager for the French nugget, which has just been acquired by the German group. United Robotics”.

The challenge of current robotics is to allow simple daily use. Plato connects via wifi and is easily configured. Sold at a price of 18,500 euros, it is also available for rental at a price of 699 euros per month. Watch our meeting with “Plato” by clicking on “play” above.
