Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that a counter-offensive against Russian forces was underway on his territory, however declining to give details of a long-planned operation. Zelensky was questioned about comments by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who had assured journalists the day before that the great Ukrainian counter-offensive expected for months had “begun”.

The Ukrainian authorities maintain the vagueness on their strategies while the Russian army has been reporting major attacks for six days, including with equipment delivered by Westernerson its positions, particularly in southern Ukraine.

Ukraine’s objective is “to reconquer all internationally recognized borders” but it will be “a one-shot gun”, emphasizes General Dominique Trinquand. For the former soldier, Ukraine has “the cards in hand” to succeed in its counter-offensive: “The Westerners have provided high-performance equipment and trained 60,000 men (…) the quality of the Ukrainian army must prevail “.

If the general appears confident about the chances of success of the Ukrainian army against the Russian troops, he points out the difficulty for the Ukrainian army to revive in case of failure. If Ukraine “does not succeed there”, it “will not succeed for a long time”, asserts the specialist. Watch his video analysis.
