Social media sites circulated video clips showing a member of the Law Enforcement Department of the General Department of Security Operations being assaulted by people, claiming that he had tried to smuggle fuel through the “Ras Ajdir” border crossing, exploiting his position.

Regarding this incident, the Law Enforcement Department of the General Department of Security Operations said: “The element was heading to the port to receive his shift when this incident occurred. At that time, some outlaws stopped him, assaulted him, filmed the video, then published it on social media and claimed that the element was involved in smuggling.”

The Law Enforcement Administration confirmed that “the element was assaulted, forced to take pictures in a disgraceful manner, and deceived, lied to and slandered, with the aim of distorting the administration and its efforts to combat smuggling.”

She added that “during the past period, it has arrested people from these outlaw groups while they were trying to smuggle through the port, and has tightened the noose on them, which has made them resort to these actions,” noting that the matter “will not pass without consequences and there will be legal prosecution and accountability for them, and the hand of justice will reach every criminal or saboteur who wanted to tamper with the capabilities of the homeland and the citizen.”
