Never-before-seen games, series, Pokémon and even employees’ personal data… Game Freak, the Pokémon video game developer, has just been the victim of a huge data leak. The stolen information, which continues to be examined by some internet users, mentions in particular “Ounce”, the code name of a console that would be the successor to the Switch at Nintendo. Whoever says console also says games. Another code name also appears in the leak, “Gaia”, which corresponds to a Pokémon game project not yet announced.
And since Pokémon is not just video games, traces of interrupted or ongoing projects, films and series have also been found. Like those from the sequel to the movie “Detective Pikachu”. The data also contains source codes for older works, as well as working files, prototype videos, music, and a slew of new Pokémon never used in the final versions.
But in addition to all this licensing information, the personal data of more than 2,600 employees, including their identities and email addresses, were also leaked, according to Game Freak. For the moment we do not know the precise extent of the leak, nor the identity of the person responsible for the theft.
