Begusarai: Shiv Shakti Kumar, the deputy commissioner of Begusarai Municipal Corporation of Bihar, did a love marriage with his niece. However, the girl’s family had lodged an FIR alleging kidnapping on August 13 in Vaishali district. Now that case turned out to be a love affair and not a kidnapping. Shiv Shakti Kumar, the accused of kidnapping, married his niece Sajal Sindhu in the Katyayani temple of Khagaria. After the marriage, a video of the two has surfaced, in which they have openly talked about this matter and their love story. While on one hand the newlywed couple appealed to the society to not just read about the love read in books but to adopt it, on the other hand, the Vaishali police administration has also been requested that the FIR lodged for kidnapping is completely false. We have got married.
Deputy commissioner got married to his niece
Sajal Sindhu has mailed the Human Rights Commission, Bar Council and Chief Justice regarding this. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Shiv Shakti Kumar has demanded security citing threat to his life. However, both of them have not come forward yet, neither Shiv Shakti has reached his Begusarai Municipal Corporation office nor have they reached home. According to sources, both of them are currently staying at a hideout in Khagaria.
In the video, Shiv Shakti has said that if you love, then you should be dedicated to love. You should not get caught up in financial temptation and social prestige, nor should you get married after getting caught up in these traps. We have shown dedication towards love and have set an example of marriage without dowry. The dowry system will end only when we adopt it. People of the society do not know the fundamental right. People consider social tradition as morality. This is the reason why love marriage is opposed. This is wrong. It is a fundamental right to love and marry after devoting oneself to love.
‘According to the Constitution, the right to choose a groom is mine’
In the video, the girl said that my name is Sajal. My name is Manua. My father’s name is Professor Vijay Kumar Garg. We both love each other for about 10 years. Now we are going to get married. Getting married is our fundamental right. According to the Constitution, the right to choose the groom should be mine, so I am doing it. We both are getting married to each other. Deputy Commissioner Shiv Shakti Kumar said that a case of kidnapping has been registered against us in Hajipur Sadar police station of Vaishali district. We have not done kidnapping or immoral act but love marriage. The administration should provide security for the safety of life.
Know the whole story from love affair to marriage
On the other hand, Sajal Sindhu has said that we got married after falling in love. This is a challenge, but we cannot change our decision by running away from challenges. We got married because we fell in love. There is nothing big in this. This is a big thing for those who do not understand these things. We are giving a message to the family and society that we should try to implement the ideals which we are unable to implement in our behavior. There are many ideals mentioned in books. Everyone has read them but the important thing is how much we are able to implement them in practical life.
Sajal said that our ancestral home is the same place, we both are together since 2015. After passing matriculation in 2015, I went to Central Hindu Girl School in Banaras to study Inter. Shiv Shakti had gone to do PG, we both knew each other before. We met there. We already understood each other’s ideas, when we got time there, we got to know and understand each other’s ideology deeply. Slowly, our love grew. Progressing in a phased manner, on 14 August, we got married for love in front of the famous Shakti Peeth Maa Katyayani of Khagaria. It is an irony of the society that today we have to tell that we have got married for love.
He also gave an argument to justify his decision
We have come out of the colonial era and entered the modern world. We worship the love of Radha-Krishna, but do not understand their love. The idea of Shiv Shakti influenced me. Whatever decisions they take, they take them according to the Constitution and law. They always take the right decisions. There are fights in love and today we have to fight to prove our love.
We had inspired Shiv Shakti with our behavior. That is why he had said for the first time that it seems we are made for each other. If we come together, we can do better work for the world. It is important to use fundamental rights. People change as soon as they become officers. I also felt for a moment that Shiv Shakti has become an officer and will change. If he had separated, my dream would never have come true. Now we have done love marriage and have decided in our mind that we will prepare for UPSC.
10 years of acquaintance, then affair, then marriage
Sajal told that my father passed away on 2 January 2023. I was under mental pressure for one and a half years. I was breaking down. Now with the blessings of Maa Durga and Lord Krishna, Shiv Shakti have become partners. An FIR has been registered against us and Shiv Shakti in Vaishali. In which apart from her brother-in-law, mother and brother working in Pune, another person’s name is also there. An attempt has been made to disturb the lives of both of us through the FIR.
My appeal to our family is that I have known Shiv Shakti for 10 years but I have known the family for 24 years. I request that our family members should incorporate the things written in the book in their lives. They should accept our relationship, we are their children. They should understand that love is a personal decision, they should not interfere in it.
The kidnapping case is registered in Vaishali’s Sadar police station
It is requested to the Vaishali administration that there is no truth in the kidnapping FIR. If that were true, we would not have come out and talked about it. Society has accepted social evils and traditions as constitutional rules. This is sad.
For the safety of not only my husband’s family but also the women of the entire society, we have mailed the National Human Rights Commission, State Human Rights Commission, Bar Council of Bihar and the judge of Vaishali Courts. We have given them proof that we have married according to Hindu customs. We have not only married but have also told them what love is. I will set an example even after my life, love is true.
