Member of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, Jiay Timur, called on the Iraqi fans to support our national team in its national mission in the journey to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will begin with the Omani team when they meet today, Thursday, at the Basra International Stadium.
Timur told the (INA): “Our national team has an ideal opportunity that will not be repeated to qualify for the World Cup finals again, and this calls on all segments of society to stand by it and overcome the obstacles it faces in its path in the competition.”
Timur added, “The Iraqi fans are required to support the national team in Basra Stadium and other stadiums and accompany the Lions of Mesopotamia wherever they go to support and encourage them as we have known them in all tournaments.”
Timour continued, “Our team is cohesive and one of the strongest teams in the group, and most teams fear facing it. This is a good opportunity to achieve the dream, especially after the level presented by the team with the Spanish coach Jesus Casas, who has proven his high efficiency with the team.” He pointed out that “the parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee supports this team, and we confirm that sports are the ambassador of peoples.”
