Video surveillance will teach not to recognize people

by time news

VisionLabs, a member of the Sberbank ecosystem, is developing a new human-centric intelligent technology that allows people to recognize and predict people’s behavior by their silhouettes, captured by a CCTV camera, gestures, postures, and direction of gaze, the company representatives said. Its main difference from traditional biometric technologies is the ability to use it without collecting and analyzing personal data, explains VisionLabs.

The tool she tests recognizes the presence or absence of personal protective equipment (for example, a medical mask) on the face, determines the position of a person in the frame, recognizes static and dynamic gestures. “For example, the technology makes it possible to determine exactly where people are looking in relation to the camera they are being filmed with,” explains the press service of VisionLabs. In combination with additional tools, the technology can be used to analyze the direction of gaze of customers in stores – this will help to find out which products are most popular and optimize the display of goods, a company representative gives an example of using this option.
