Two Chileans detained in Japan entered the country on August 27 with a tourist visa for 90 days. However, they were later arrested by Japanese police after being accused of committing at least ten robberies in several cities, including Tokyo.
The two Chileans, identified as Ruderich Andrés Osorio Gutiérrez, 39, and Víctor Abraham Carrasco Medel, 55, entered Japan with a tourist visa on August 27. Just over a month later, on September 3, they committed their first crime by breaking into the house of a 78-year-old man in one of Tokyo’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
The suspects refused to cooperate with the police, with Osorio claiming his right to remain silent. His accomplice claimed to have no recollection of the incident.
The police are investigating at least ten other robberies committed in recent weeks in Tokyo, Shizuoka, Saitama, and Nagano prefectures. The estimated loot from these crimes is valued at approximately 25 million yen, roughly 165 million Chilean pesos.
