It was 7:21 when the cell phone Lanús Patrol Command managed to intercept the two motochorros who, a few minutes before, had stolen the motorcycle of a neighbor who was going out to work. One of the criminals, only 15 years old, did not hesitate and threatened, with what looked like a firearm, the uniformed Buenos Aires police. But despite the attempt to flee from him, he was subdued and detained. His accomplice, however, left the victim’s vehicle abandoned and ran. He resisted the shots. He wanted to escape so he wouldn’t be identified. But he could not. Martincito, The multiple 17-year-old teenager was handcuffed again and taken to a police station.

The sequence prior to the shooting between Martincito and the Buenos Aires police personnel was recorded by a security camera. The recording shows how the 15-year-old accomplice, after threatening the uniformed officers, is subdued and detained. Shortly afterward it was learned that he did not have a firearm, it was a replica.

The filming ends when Martincito, 17 years old and who at the beginning of last month had escaped from a detention center in La Plata, abandoned the motorcycle that he had stolen from a neighbor in Villa Barceló, in Lanús, and begins to run. He was stopped after 200 meters. In his attempt to flee, after shooting, he discarded the firearm.

Lara Fernández was 17 years old when she was murdered on January 1 by Martincito, the unimpeachable minor.

As reported THE NATION Last Saturday, at the time he was arrested, Martincito gave another identity and said he lived in Gregorio Laferrere, in La Matanza. But when the uniformed officers from the Villa Barceló police station made the “verification of address” they noticed that no one in the neighborhood knew him.

“The criminal known by his nickname Martincito gave an identity that was not his true one. To prevent it from being known that he had an arrest warrant for a homicide, he said his name was Patricio Acosta,” he explained to THE NATION a police source.

Last month, Martincito, a multiple murderer who committed his first murder at the age of 13, completed his third escape from a Buenos Aires juvenile institute, the second in less than a year.

On January 7, he lifted the perimeter fence of the Francisco Legarra detention center, in Villa Esperanza, La Plata, and fled. He had already tried it two other times. Before, he tried to escape from the juvenile institute known as “El Castillito”, in the provincial capital.

Since in that escape attempt he attacked a guard, the authorities decided to transfer him to a higher security detention center. It took Martincito a day to find a way to escape from the Legarra Institute. He simply lifted the fence and fled.

Kill for a cell phone

Because I was 15 years old when, On January 1, 2022, he murdered Lara Fernández, 17, to steal her cell phone in Ingeniero Budge, Lomas de Zamora, Martincito is considered by law as a non-punishable minor. This means that he will never be convicted of the murder of the teenager or the other three homicides that were attributed to him when he was younger.

Lara and her friends were intercepted after celebrating the New Year. Martincito and three accomplices blocked their path on the corner of Falucho and Olmos, in Lomas de Zamora.

“Nobody move. If someone moves we give them ‘mass’”shouted one of Martincito’s accomplices. “Hand over the cell phones,” demanded another of the thieves. Lara resisted. When her friends turned their heads after hearing the gunshot, Lara was on the floor, unconscious, and bleeding from the back of her neck and nose.

The four assailants fled through Falucho in the direction of Estanislao del Campo Street. The attackers were recorded by security cameras in the area. In the images that the police obtained, after they were released by neighbors, the attackers appeared with the same clothes they were wearing at the time of murdering the 17-year-old student.

This was one of the four homicides that were attributed to Martincito and for which he will never be subjected to criminal proceedings because he is a non-punishable minor. Those charges did not stop him from continuing to commit crimes whenever he could. Now he will be detained again in a Buenos Aires juvenile institution, from where only those who do not want to escape do not escape.
