He spins, he spins Tahar Rahim. And yet smiling and looking relaxed, the revelation of “A Prophet”, palme d’or 2009, returns to the Croisette with two films in the selection. “The Past”, by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi in official competition and “Grand Central” by Rebecca Zlotowski, selected for Critics’ Week.
In the middle of a make-up session in the dressing rooms of the Grand Journal de Cannes, the young husband of Leïla Bekhti shares her joy at being at the festival. An experience that brings back magical memories with Jacques Audiard. “Besides, I was lucky, I shot with two great actresses!” he blurts out laughing. “Léa Seydoux is a real friend! And I got along very well with Bérénice Bejo!”.
At his side, a buttock on a sofa armrest, his friend Jean Imbert, the winner of Top Chef 2012, came to support him. “He is the greatest French actor!” he says, confiding that he is also in Cannes to cook for very private events. “He makes the best lasagna in the world, but I never have time to taste it!” regrets Tahar Rahim, before getting on the set.
