Vidya Balan rose to fame with her role in the Bengali film Palo Dego (2003). Her first Hindi film Parineetha (2005) was well received by the fans. This was followed by Lake Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and Phool Phulaiya (2007), which were commercial successes for her.

Vidya married filmmaker Siddharth Roy Kapur in 2012. Also in 2014, Vidyapalan received India’s fourth highest award, the Padma Shri.
