Vienna police test fast pedelec bikes with blue lights

The premiere was on Sunday at the Vienna Marathon, now the test run starts. The police in Vienna are now using two fast electric bicycles for the first time, which can reach speeds of up to 45 km / h.

Normally, pedelecs of this kind are only allowed to be used on the road, but not on cycle paths, because they are legally regarded as motorcycles. However, so that they can also be used on patrols by the police along the cycle routes, an exemption from the City of Vienna was necessary. The gray pedelecs are not only in the color of the police design, but are also equipped with blue lights and a tone horn.
