WIEN. September 2023 is dedicated to adult education in Vienna. It starts with oneVienna Adult Education Fair on September 1st, 2023 in the Arkadenhof and in the Volkshalle of the Vienna City Hall. From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.) children and adults can take part in the stage participation program free of charge. There is a lot of information about educational opportunities, a science show, lectures, workshops, a concert and much more. Food trucks ensure your physical well-being.

From September 1st to 30th, 2023, the Viennese Adult Education Month instead of. Viennese adult education institutions present their offerings to a broad audience. These institutions include the Vienna Adult Education Centers, the WIFI Vienna, the City of Vienna – Libraries, the Floridsdorf Education Center, the Diakonie Eine Welt Academy with the ASH Forum, the Parents’ Workshop, the Theological Courses, the BFI Vienna, the Cardinal König Haus and others. Adult education is more than learning
Viennese adult education connects people with similar interests and gives them the opportunity to develop together or individually. It enables critical discussion of current topics and thus prevents ignorance, extremist thinking and conspiracy theories. Adult education strengthens the resilience of Viennese people in and for difficult times.
“The City of Vienna promotes a variety of adult education offerings to increase educational opportunities. The goal is to have a comprehensive educational offering for all Viennese that they can use in a wide variety of life situations,” says Daniela Piegler, head of the Adult Education and Youth Department of the City of Vienna – Education and Youth (MA 13).
Country network for further education
In 2023, the federal state of Vienna will chair the Austria-wide state network Further Education. The state network advocates for the interests of adult education and libraries in Austria, carries out an intensive exchange of information with the offices of the state governments, the Federal Ministry of Education, the KEBÖ (Austrian Adult Education Conference), and the institutions of the European Union, thereby making an important contribution for the further development of adult education and libraries in Austria.
The Vienna Adult Education Center, the Catholic Education Center and the Albert Schweitzer House – Civil Society Forum of the Diakonie Eine Welt Academy are chairing the meeting for Vienna.
