Viennese police stop tugs with 14 people on board – Vienna

The police arrested a suspected smuggler on Saturday in Vienna-Favoriten. There were 14 people in the back of a small truck.

As the State Police Directorate (LPD) Vienna announced on Twitter, a witness had observed that several people had got out of a vehicle in Grohnergasse. When the officers went out for an inspection, the driver, a 36-year-old Tunisian, presented an apparently forged French driver’s license. With the help of a passport, the police officers were then able to determine his identity.

14 men in the hold

There were 14 people in the back of the small truck. According to the police, these were young people or men between the ages of 15 and 47 from Turkey and Syria. Some also claim that they gave money to the 36-year-old driver for transportation. The driver was arrested on suspicion of being a smuggler.
