On September 4, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting opened in Jakarta, ahead of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related summits.
A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet attended the conference.
In his opening remarks, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Masurdi highlighted the region’s challenges and called on countries to cooperate to ensure a successful conference. She said that more than 600 million people of ASEAN are looking forward to the meeting and ASEAN needs to prove as an organization that remains relevant, contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Besides the results achieved, Foreign Minister Retno said that ASEAN still faces a number of challenges, including the situation in Myanmar, in which Indonesia, as the ASEAN Chair, is trying to promote a unified solution. .
She also stressed that ASEAN can only move forward with full strength if it can guarantee a peaceful and lasting solution in Myanmar.
Finally, the head of Indonesian diplomacy said that under the authorization of the ASEAN leaders, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will conduct a comprehensive review of the implementation of the project. Agree 5 points (5PC) to Myanmar and prepare the proposal for submission ASEAN Summit 43rd time.
