Several suspects from the Issawiya neighborhood chased the police vehicle until it was stopped in the French Hill neighborhood, where they smashed the windshield with rocks, sprayed pepper spray and attacked the occupants of the vehicle, when one of the suspects even managed to snatch the weapon of a Border Police officer.

The policemen felt danger to their lives and another of them fired in the air and the attackers fled the scene.

During the night, Jerusalem District forces arrested three suspects, one 17-year-old and two other suspects in their 20s, all residents of Issawiya and they were taken for questioning in the Central District of Jerusalem District.

The three were brought to court today for a hearing on extending their detention. The 17-year-old suspect was released and the detention of the other two was extended until next Sunday.

The police said that more arrests are expected and emphasized that “the Israel Police continues to investigate the case and take all necessary actions in order to prosecute all those involved.”
