Two policemen have been arrested in connection with the murder of trial prisoner Vignesh, which has caused a stir in Tamil Nadu.
The CBCID police have been investigating 12 persons, including police station inspector Senthil Kumar, since midnight yesterday.
The CBCID has brought in 12 people who worked at the Chief Secretary’s Colony Police Station as police inspectors, assistant inspectors and policemen in the case of Vignesh’s suspicious death, who was taken away for interrogation.
In this context, the CBCID police arrested policeman Paunraj and police station secretary Munaf as accused in the Vignesh murder case as the investigation continued from 11 am to midnight yesterday. According to the CBCID, the investigation has revealed that Vignesh was assaulted by policeman Paunraj during a vehicle search and later kept at the police station by clerk Munaf.
Police Inspector Senthil Kumar, Assistant Inspectors Pukazhum Perumal, Ganapathy, Chief Constable Kumar, Women Constable Anandi, Kayts soldier Deepak and driver Karthik are under investigation by the CBCID police. Based on the initial investigation, it has been reported that further arrests are likely to be made as the two policemen have been arrested.
